The New York Yankees are handling this Robinson Canó situation really well. Robinson is asking for a 10 year $300 million dollar contract, which is way too much for his age as he is just about to turn 31. Don’t get me wrong; he is one, if not the best 2nd basemen in the game today. His batting average is .314 and had 27 home runs with 107 RBI’s to tag along, these are elite numbers, but he is just to old to give that type of contract to. One would think the Yankees would have learned from this with Alex Rodriguez when they gave him a 10 year $275 million dollar contract back in December 2007. We all can see how that worked out for the Yankees. Robinson should either look elsewhere to peddle his talents or go for a contract along the lines of 5-6 year $50 million dollar contract if he wants to stay with the Yankees.
