Kenny Football?

Kenny Hill breaks out in a big way for the Aggies. (USATSI)

Kenny Hill is the new quarterback for Texas A&M who had beat out a 5-star recruit for the starting quarterback job. Kenny Hill has to fill the shoes of Johnny Manziel and week one of College Football he didn’t disappoint, Kenny looked poised in his first start of the season. The new star Completed 44 of 60 passes for 511 yards with three touchdowns connecting with 12 receivers. “I just wanted to get the first press conference over with,” said Hill which was his first time talking with reporters. Texas A&M may have found their quarterback for the next two years maybe three if he wants to stay in school his whole four years but if he keeps playing like this he will be a top NFL prospect and he will probably forgo his senior year and  If this keeps this keeps up Texas A&M will be looking like a top team in SEC which is bad news for Alabama. Kevin Sumlin said “We aren’t a one-trick pony,”. Texas A&M defense looked really good but also South Carolina was missing a main part of their offense Mike Davis who was hurt going into this game and ended up not starting but got six carries for 17 yards. But in all Texas A&M has a lot of good things to take away from this game.  Final score was Texas A&M 52-38 South Carolina.

Andy Dalton Gets Paid

According to ESPN Adam Schefter Andy Dalton has signed an extension with the Cincinnati Bengals for 6-years 115 million dollars. I believe he isn’t worth this much, he is just an average quarterback, who happens to be pretty good during the regular season but never shows up in the postseason. Andy Dalton had 80 passing touchdowns in his first three seasons which only Peyton Manning and Dan Marino had more, while he has made the playoffs all three years he’s been in the league. In the post season his stats are awful, Andy hasn’t led the team to a victory in the playoffs yet and he only has one touchdown to his six interceptions and a QBR of 18. In all this isn’t a bad contract it will be cap friendly and also he isn’t locked in for the next six years, he is really just locked in for the next two seasons so he still has to prove he’s worth it within these next two seasons.

Paul Geroge Breaks Leg

Team USA had a basketball scrimmage to showcase the players on the team. During this scrimmage the unexpected happened and someone got hurt, that someone is Paul George. Paul George broke his leg in a very bad way, he was chasing James Harden on a fast break he jumped and his foot landed on the base of the bottom of the basketball (which was closer than NBA standards) which led to his leg turning and breaking his leg. After Paul George broke his leg all the players we’re shocked this had happened, One moment Kyrie Irving was with his father with his arm around him. Coach K went on to end the game out of respect for Paul George and his Family, the game ended at 9:33 left in the 4th quarter with white team leading 81-71.

(Warning: injury is disturbing)

Wasn’t About the Money?

Carmelo Anthony had a interview with ESPN Jeff Goodman and in his interview he had some interesting things to say,  he said:

“I want to win. I don’t care about the money,” Anthony said. “I believe Phil (Jackson) will do what he has to do to take care of that.

“I don’t think we’re that far away,” he added. “People use ‘rebuilding’ too loosely.”

“I was flip-flopping,” he admitted. “It was hard. It was Chicago, but then after I met with L.A., it was L.A. But it came back to Chicago — and was pretty much always Chicago or New York. That’s a situation where I could have walked in now to an opportunity to compete for the next however many years.”

“It’s a matter of me believing in the organization, believing in Phil,” Anthony said. “I wanted to go somewhere where I can end my career.”

What really stands out to me when he says “I want to win. I don’t care about the money,”  this is just a flat-out lie. There is no other explanation to why he re-signed with the New York Knicks but for the extra 50 million he would get from the Knicks. This Knicks team has no shot at winning a championship yet he says “he wants to win” if he would have signed with the Chicago Bulls I could understand him saying he wants to win because that team would easily give him a better chance at winning. Let me be clear I do not blame Carmelo for taking the money,  family is more important than basketball. Carmelo family can be set for generations now with all money he will be getting, that sounds much better to me than winning a ring.

Hello Charlotte

The Brooklyn native Lance Stephenson has signed with the Charlotte Hornets, according Rick Bonnell from Charlotte Observer.

The Contract I would say is a steal and very cheap for his talents, 3-years 27 million with a team option on the last year he is set to make 9 million 2014-2015 and 9 million again for 2015-2016 if the Hornets pick up the team option he would make a little bit over 9 million in 2016-2017.

Lance Stephenson has that killer instinct that the Hornets need, he can bring a new attitude to the locker room. Many people try to knock Lance for his on the court behavior, the things he has done like blowing in LeBron’s ear to doing the choke sign to LeBron some years ago. But I find that to be overblown I think it’s funny and a good way to try to get into a player’s head, even LeBron found him annoying and wondered how he did he hold back from doing something to Lance. Lance Stephenson should have been a All-Star this past season but no one knows how he didn’t make it but he carried that chip on his shoulder all season and I hope he continues to do that this season.

Statistically he had his best season by far. Lance averaged 13.8 points ,7.2 rebounds ,and 4.6 assist Lance led the league in triple doubles with five, Lance also led all shooting guards in rebounds.

Bringing Home the Goods

Germany is the 2014 FIFA World Cup champions!

This game was a thriller going into extra time just to decide the winner in the final game of the World Cup. Mario Gotze might have just scored the biggest goal of his life. Mario Gotze caught a beautiful lob pass from André Schürrle, as catching the ball on his chest he managed to keep control and volley kick with his left foot past the goalie putting Germany up 1-0. This was one of the best goals we have seen this World Cup. Lionel Messi missed some chances but Germany was just simply too much for Argentina. Germany wins its fourth overall title and first title since 1990. This was a match to remember for ages.

Melo Staying Put

Today Carmelo Anthony officially announced on his website he will be staying with the New York Knicks. The letter he wrote is:

A few years ago I dreamed of coming back to New York City, the place of my birth, and on February 23, 2011 that became a reality. This organization has supported me and in return, I want to stay and build here with this city and my team. At this pivotal juncture in my career, I owed it to myself and my family to explore all of the options available to me. Through it all, my heart never wavered.

During this journey I met with some quality organizations who have amazing talent and leadership. I thank them for their consideration, belief in my talent, and opportunity to imagine the possibilities.

I will always remember this chapter in my life. In the end, I am a New York Knick at heart. I am looking forward to continue my career in Orange & Blue and to work with Phil Jackson, a champion who builds championship teams. Madison Square Garden is the mecca of basketball and I am surrounded by the greatest fans in the world.”

He signed the max contract 5-years 120 million, I believe only time will tell if this was a smart signing for Melo I don’t know what Phil Jackson has in store for the Knicks but at least Phil now can breathe easily knowing Melo is returning for the next 5-years. Being able to build around a superstar like Melo is something that won’t be easy but can be done with the right pieces, Hopefully Phil Jackson can continue to unload these bad contracts such as Amar’e Stoudemire, and J.R. Smith. Phil was able to trade-off Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to get some pretty good quality players in return.
